Michael Jordan 623 Project #42
Launching YouTube Channel!
Very excited to share that I have started up my YouTube channel - Michael Jordan 623 Project - and invite you all to subscribe for some visual content that will chronicle my application of the stats and trends we cover here on this Substack.
Basically - I want to share my collection journey and how I am applying the ridiculous amount of data at my disposal. My hope is that this will help market what we’re doing here to any other Michael Jordan 1990s card collectors so I can continue to justify putting in the effort to make this all happen.
Coming out swinging too. Doing some lists that we’ve covered here and other similar lists along those lines. We’ll go through the 100 most submitted MJ cards to PSA of all time and another of just in 2025. Worst gem rate lists bucketed by common, uncommon, and rare. Swing and a miss cards of 2025 (no PSA 10s added), and a bunch of personal collection updates to show how I’m applying all of this. My collection isn’t the most grand - but playing small ball to make it so. One day anyway.
Aside from that - I just finished updating sales on all relevant slabs from the MJ 623 Project. It’s turned into a huge process doing this and took a lot of time. But that’s the engine that fuels everything this Substack offers. So plenty of content on sales through end of April coming .
Personal collection update:
Looking forward to getting a 36-card order back pretty soon to put on the YouTube channel too. Pretty much my raw buys from the past year or so. Also a four-card Regular order to find out how I did on peeling a perfect looking Roundball Royalty Refractor pickup from the West Coast Card Show. Video on that peeling coming out soon too.
Finally - I want to do some research on this:
Low pop PSA 10s that have no business with any in a 10 slab. We see them time and time again - most recently this 1997 Roundball Royalty. A card I collect a lot on in decent shape seeing as how it is one of the worst gem rate Jordans out there.
That lower left corner is just unforgivable for a 10. Maybe a 9 considering how wretched this card typically is condition-wise. But no way a 10.
Since I have a nice list of lowest pop cards for any grade - I’m going to search for all the images of any sales of these cards to pretty much grade the graders. I’ve seen a lot of content out there in the hobby advocating for eye-appeal over grade and I couldn’t agree more. Especially after seeing all these “PSA 10” imposters. I used to assume they looked perfect. That Royal Court above would be lucky to get an 8 today. LUCKY.
Be back with results on that soon. Give the YouTube a quick Sub while you’re here.
